Lucia Mabasa, Managing Director

With an Industrial Sociology Masters degree from Wits University, Lucia Mabasa is an experienced labour market researcher whose field of expertise includes retention, incentivisation and employment equity strategies within the financial services industry. As Managing Director at pinpoint one, Lucia actively drives the company’s effective leadership agenda and competency based recruitment process. When seeking out leadership competencies in candidates, she looks for “an understanding of strengths, the ability to learn from and contribute to the team, and the ability to energise the organisation and maximise potential regardless of the level at which the individual operates.” She believes that the competency-based recruitment process undertaken at pinpoint one facilitates the recruitment of talented individuals who are honest, dynamic, solutions-orientated, innovative, have a willingness to go the extra mile and the ability to increase productivity.


Florence Thom, Executive Director and Founder Member

With a degree in psychology and extensive industry experience working in various senior executive human resources roles, Florence Thom, executive director and founder member of pinpoint one, understands first-hand the difference that effective leadership attributes can make to an organisation. “Leadership attributes are the key competencies required of all people tasked with shaping an organisation and ensuring its sustainability,” she says, adding, “Employers need to be able to identify and assess these attributes during each hiring process, ensuring the company obtains and retains a differentiating competitive edge.” Florence is an operational recruitment consultant at pinpoint one, having successfully managed the company since its inception in 1999, until 2010 when she handed the reins over to Lucia. She is a registered Generalist Practitioner with the South African Board of Personnel Practitioners, a member of the South African Institute of People Management and serves as a Board member for Business and Arts South Africa. She is also accredited as a competency assessor by Hay McBer and is a qualified cognitive ability assessor.


Clive Viveiros, Executive Director and Founder Member

Having steered the Kelly Personnel Group as Managing Director for a period of eight years and with over 25 years’ experience in the people resourcing industry, Clive Viveiros, executive director and founder member of pinpoint one, knows just what leadership attributes to look for when interviewing candidates. “They should display a strong sense of ethics and the ability to build integrity into the organisation. They must also be able to illustrate leadership attributes such as high energy levels, charisma, team orientation, intuitiveness and empathy,” he says. Clive believes that for effective leadership recruitment to be successful, competency based interviews need to take into consideration that the leaders of tomorrow are going to be both teachers and learners.

Clive holds a BA and MBA from Wits Business School, and is a member of the Institute for People Management and the Educational Institute of Personnel Service Consultants. He is passionate about making a difference – to clients, candidates and the community at large.
