Tshiamiso Trust – permanent full time positions

The Tshiamiso Trust was established in February 2020 to implement the terms of the historic R5 billion silicosis and TB class action settlement agreement reached between six South African mining companies – African Rainbow Minerals, Anglo American South Africa, AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields, Harmony and Sibanye-Stillwater – and the claimants’ attorneys Richard Spoor Inc, Abrahams Kiewitz Inc and the Legal Resources Centre who had brought the class action on behalf of gold mineworkers. The settlement was approved by a full bench of the South Gauteng High Court on 26 July 2019 and became unconditional on 10 December 2019.

The Trust is responsible for ensuring that all eligible current and former mineworkers across southern Africa with silicosis or work-related TB (or their dependants where the mineworker has passed away) are compensated. These beneficiaries are front and centre in all that the Trust does.

The name of the Trust was carefully chosen – Tshiamiso is a Setswana word meaning ‘to make good’ or ‘to correct’ and it is our intention to live up to our name by ensuring that while the past cannot be undone, the Trust will strive to make a difference now and in the future.

The Trust is now ready to commence the recruitment, selection and appointment of the permanent positions listed below. Successful candidates will be committed to working with the executive team to fulfil the purpose of the Trust:
